Christmas Tour

The Annual East Row Victorian Christmas Tour is returning on the first weekend in December in the East Row Historic District of Newport, Kentucky!  Once again, residents will be opening their spectacular historic homes to the public, just in time for the Christmas season. We will have 8 distinct homes scattered around the Historic District, each with a unique character sure to delight visitors.

After picking up your tickets for the self-guided tour, visitors may walk the neighborhood and through each of the homes, which reflect Queen Anne and Italianate architecture styles from the 1890’s through 1910’s. Interior features include original staircases, fireplace mantles, and woodwork. While garlands and greenery are hardly needed for the homes, all of which have been selected for their distinctive interiors and exteriors and historic design, the residences will be decorated in their best holiday finery. Besides holiday decor, visitors will see newly renovated kitchens, sitting rooms, dining rooms, and entrance-ways. We’ll also have one home still under renovation, displaying its “bones” for all to see.

Tour hours each day will be from 1:00pm – 7:00pm. This timing allows visitors to the Historic District to experience sevening hours in the neighborhood our outdoor lighting displays!

Stained Glass Window and Christmas Lighting Displays

The homes in the East Row Historic District will be lit up in a spectacular display of lights, decorations, and Christmas spirit. Come experience the lights either by walking or driving through the neighborhood. Every type of decoration can be found, from massive light installations, projections and lasers, inflatable figures, and more. Luminaries will be lit, lining the sidewalks all through the neighborhood, adding a special charm to the evenings.

Those evenings can be spent finding each of the Stained Glass Windows throughout the District. Many homes will have interior lights on as well to show off the beautiful stained glass windows that make these homes unique and special. We’ll have many of these highlighted on the Tour map, so take some time to find your favorite window as you explore the neighborhood!

Christmas Tea

The popular Victorian Christmas Tea Service will return this year as well. Enjoy a traditional English tea service with some special holiday styled treats, soup, pastries, and more. We will be holding three seatings for the Tea Service, at 11:30am, 2:00pm, and 4:30pm on both Saturday and Sunday. The location for the Tea Service will be sent to those guests that have reservations. This event always sells out, so make sure to get your reservation made quickly!

Note: Tickets for the Victorian Christmas Tea Service and tickets for the Christmas Tour are separate and will need to be purchased individually. Your Tour tickets can be provided at your Tea seating, so you are able to get started right away.

Explore the Historic District

The East Row Historic District will also offer plenty for patrons to explore beyond just the Home Tour, the Christmas Light Displays, and the Tea Service! There are a number of restaurants and bars within the neighborhood that will be joining in on the fun, with specials and drinks to support the East Row Historic Foundation. Jerry’s Jughouse, Coach's Corner, Pompillos, and O’Bryon’s will have food and holiday specials all weekend. Our Holiday Block Party will be on Hamlet Alley (between Washington Ave and Overton St) just north of 6th Street starting at 7pm on Saturday, Dec 2nd, near Coach’s Corner. Food and special holiday drinks will be available, as well as live music from 7pm-10pm. We'll even have a visit from Santa!
